Welcome to ‘Head’s gone’, a new daily feature on RetainPossession.com, where I will be revealing some of the craziest, most bizarre football stories around the globe.
Luke Shaw is in today. After a good performance against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, he raced back from Old Trafford to go and watch the X Factor live in London. However, he turned up five minutes late and was refused entry.. Well that was worth it!
Christoph Kramer’s own goal against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday night might just be the craziest own goal that I’ve ever witnessed. From around 45-yards away from goal, Kramer booted the ball over his own goalkeeper’s head into the back of the net. This was the only goal of the game and gave Dortmund a vital three points.
Borussia Dortmund’s league form is a certain head’s gone. Although they won on Saturday, they are still in the bottom four in the Bundesliga table, having lost seven games in eleven. In contrast, they’ve claimed four wins from four in the Champions League, scoring thirteen goals and conceding just one. Why can’t they do that in the league?!
Emmanuel Adebayor has said that it might be easier if Spurs played away from home every week. Adebayor was upset at the home crowd’s booing at White Hart Lane against Stoke on Sunday. However, I’m not too sure what he expects, considering they have lost four of their last five home games. Two of which were humiliating defeats to Stoke and Newcastle.
Arsenal’s defensive situation.. You know you are in trouble when Nacho Monreal is brought in at centre-back. Not only this, but Calum Chambers was tormented by Swansea’s Jefferson Montero on Sunday. God knows what that has done to his confidence. He had been outstanding at centre-back in recent weeks, but injury problems meant the young Englishman was forced to play on the right, and a right-back he is not.
Southampton’s form this season is utterly magnificent, they should not be doing so well! I’ve been to two Saints games this season; the 4-0 victory over Newcastle and the 1-0 win over Stoke. Can they keep this up?
Alexis Sanchez tweeted “Those three points are off to London” just 24 hours before Arsenal lost to Swansea. Wayne Routledge then tweeted him back, simply saying “Ermmmmm…..”. Embarrassing for Sanchez!
Juan Mata’s spot on the bench week in week out is a prime example of head’s gone. The guy clearly has the talent, so why is he sitting on the bench practically every game?
