With the transfer window well underway, Premier League clubs have continued to snap up top talent from around the globe. Here’s our round-up of the latest Premier League transfer news:
This week saw Manchester United secure a number of big-name signings, with Bayern Munich stalwart Bastian Schweinsteiger and Southampton enforcer Morgan joining the Old Trafford club.
Despite securing two big-names, the Red Devils also lost one, with Dutch superstar Robin van Persie making his way to the Turkish Super Lig. Van Persie stated that he was ‘humbled’ at his Fenerbahce unveiling following the £4.8 million move. The 31-year-old has vowed to win trophies with the Turkish club.
Sources close to Wolfsburg winger Kevin De Bruyne have given noisy neighbours Manchester City the green light in their pursuit of the Belgian. The former Chelsea man is reportedly willing to listen to offers from the Premier League club, despite his disappointing spell at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester City have already spent big with their £45 million+ acquisition of Raheem Sterling. Liverpool fans appear to unanimously agree that the club have done well to secure such a hefty fee.
However, with the club now required to comply with Financial Fair Play, they are also looking to offload a number of surplus players this summer. Aleksandar Kolarov is thought to be one such player. However, the Serbian international doesn’t appear to be itching for a move, with reports suggesting that he had rejected the chance to join Italian giants AC Milan.
Despite losing one of their best players, Liverpool are already looking at how they can reinvest the money they have made from the Sterling deal. Christian Benteke is reportedly a key target for the Anfield club, but Rodgers is unwilling to meet his £32 million buy-out clause. Despite Liverpool’s interest, Aston Villa expect their star striker to stay at the club beyond this summer.
Elsewhere, Oliver McBurnie has completed a move to Swansea City. The 19-year-old Scotland striker has secured a move from League One side Bradford for an undisclosed fee. McBurnie is unlikely to jump straight into the first-team at the Liberty Stadium, but he is certainly a decent prospect for the future.
Watford today announced the signing of Cameroonian left-back Allan Nyom from Serie A side Udinese. The 27-year-old had never appeared for the Italian side, having spent six years on loan at Spanish side Granada, but the newly promoted side feel that he will bring some experience to the team’s defence.
Yet again, Arsene Wenger is rumored to be trailing Real Madrid hitman Karim Benzema. The Arsenal boss has been interested in the Frenchman since last summer and is reportedly continuing his efforts this time round as he looks for a world-class striker to challenge Olivier Giroud next season.
Carl Jenkinson is back with the Hammers. Having signed a new long-term deal with Arsenal which ended talk of a permanent move to West Ham, the 23-year-old has rejoined the club on another season-long loan deal.
Over in Italy, Valencia are rumoured to be looking into the prospect of a loan move for Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes, while Arsenal’s David Ospina is also on their radar.
Newcastle’s interest in Charlie Austin has been confirmed. Queens Park Rangers’ director of football Les Ferdinand revealed that the Magpies are interested in the goalscorer, but have yet to make a formal bid. Any move is likely to cost the club upwards of £15 million.
